This year, only 28 states and the District of Columbia will legally recognize it as a public holiday. On Saturday, June 17, the American Legion Chinatown Post 328 held its 74th Installation of Officers at the Asian American Civic Association (AACA). The 78th annual ceremony in the Chinatown community was a chance to bring young and old members together. The installation re-elected the officers from the 2022-2023 year. Mohammed, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, delivered the commencement address to the Tufts University Class of 2023 and their guests on Tufts’ Medford/Somerville campus on May 21th. Fire Safety Event Offers Alarm Installation, Seeks Chinese-Speaking Volunteers

The Red Cross of Massachusetts is sounding the alarm on fire safety later this month — and seeking volunteers to help in its effort. On Jan. 21, 11 people were killed and nine wounded in a massacre during Lunar New Year celebrations in Monterey Park, California. The mass shooting is now the worst in Los Angeles County’s history. Colorful Lion dancers, fireworks, and joyful noises were in abundance at Boston’s Chinatown Lunar New Year Celebration on January 29, with city and community speakers addressing the assembled crowd and a procession making its way through the streets.
