QARI hosts in-person August Moon Festival in Quincy

Women celebrate August Moon Festival

On August 15, 2021, the town of Quincy celebrated the August Moon Festival in person. The event, hosted by Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (QARI), saw a multitude of attractions and vendors, from rock climbing and bouncy castles, to cultural performances that included groups of both East and South Asian descent.

Despite the Summer heat, droves of families and individuals came out to enjoy the festival. The street was lined with vendors from both sponsoring organizations and local groups and shops. Parked along the road were also food trucks, some serving more traditional Asian cuisine, while others indulged its audience in classic American street fair-style snacks.

The chance to reunite in person on such a significant holiday has not been taken for granted this year, as Boston’s Chinatown, as well as the town of Randolph, MA either hosted or will host festivities of their own. After a year of keeping our distance, the joy in peoples’ faces as they walked up and down Coddington Street was evident.

I ate and enjoyed plenty of this hearty dish, which was considered inexpensive and easy to prepare. Many people believe that it is primarily a New England dish, largely […]
