QARI hosts in-person August Moon Festival in Quincy

Women celebrate August Moon Festival

On August 15, 2021, the town of Quincy celebrated the August Moon Festival in person. The event, hosted by Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (QARI), saw a multitude of attractions and vendors, from rock climbing and bouncy castles, to cultural performances that included groups of both East and South Asian descent.

Despite the Summer heat, droves of families and individuals came out to enjoy the festival. The street was lined with vendors from both sponsoring organizations and local groups and shops. Parked along the road were also food trucks, some serving more traditional Asian cuisine, while others indulged its audience in classic American street fair-style snacks.

The chance to reunite in person on such a significant holiday has not been taken for granted this year, as Boston’s Chinatown, as well as the town of Randolph, MA either hosted or will host festivities of their own. After a year of keeping our distance, the joy in peoples’ faces as they walked up and down Coddington Street was evident.

This was 1871. That night, an estimated nine percent of LA’s Chinese community was killed. An event forgotten somewhere in history, this massacre is believed […]

Many in Boston Area Express Unease Over Election Results

After former U.S. Pres. Donald Trump secured enough votes for a second term as president, defeating Vice Pres. Kamala Harris, many in the Greater Boston area and Chinatown showed strong emotions about the results. Massachusetts voted heavily for Harris, as she won over 60% of the vote in the state, so it’s no surprise many were upset with the results. Immigration was a center of the Trump campaign, and his rhetoric was widely described as racist and xenophobic, and had […]
