BOSTON, MA — Sunday, June 11, 2023 – The Massachusetts Health Connector partnered with El Mundo Boston for “Tu Salud” Health and Wellness Fair at Fenway Park on June 11, partnering with local Navigator organizations to provide on-site, multilingual enrollment assistance.

“Tu Salud” is a free, first-of-its-kind Latino Fair and Wellness Fair catered to Latino families in Greater Boston that provided a unique opportunity for the Latino community to connect with health care providers, services and health care coverage information.

The event gave MassHealth members at risk of losing coverage due to expiring federal COVID-19 protections, which includes thousands of residents across Massachusetts, and others without coverage the opportunity to meet with a local assister and learn about coverage options and enroll in a new plan if they need one. The event was part of an unprecedented multicultural campaign to reach transitioning MassHealth members.

“The effort to conduct redeterminations for such a large population and to ensure everyone lands in the coverage that’s right for them will be challenge, but Massachusetts has proved time and time again that when we work collectively, we find success and I’m confident that we will make it happen again over the next year,” said Executive Director of The Massachusetts Health Connector, Audrey Morse Gasteier.

Sunday’s event featured free admission, a DJ, free health screenings, and family games for attendees.

The 150th anniversary of Chinese New Year in Massachusetts

This year, Chinese New Year starts on Friday, February 12, beginning the Year of the Ox. It’s also the 150th Anniversary of the first public celebration of Chinese New Year in Massachusetts. Although you might suspect that the celebration occurred in Chinatown, it actually began in North Adams, a city in the far northwestern region of the state.  Prior to 1870, there were only a handful of Chinese living in Massachusetts, and any celebration of Chinese New Year was more […]
