It is the City of Boston’s Toy Drive, the gifts are from the CITY, the PEOPLE, City Hall is the conduit, the transaction agent, the “delivery boy”, and while we may give him a “tip”, a tip of the hat, this City belongs to the tax paying public, those that pay real estate taxes, this is our town and no child should be fooled at Christmastime.
Toys come from Santa Clause, the Sandman, but not from Tom Menino.
Do the parents or custodians of the children imagine that Tom is sending gifts for their children? Tom has lots of money, he can write a check for $50,000 himself if he wants to spread the Joy of Christmas, and please God by doing in anonymously.
This is really vulgar; isn’t Herb Chambers negotiating with the City BRA to open a BMW dealership in town? Is this this a deposit on his approval to obtain a building permit? Obscene. Why do the funds have to flow through The Fund for Boston Neighborhoods, Incorporated? How much is left after they launder the money? 50% on the dollar? Why doesn’t Mr. Chambers make a website and ask for “letters to Santa” and Moses? Cut out the middleman, as Obama tells us. Or let the City Council do this… TJD
