After extensive renovations, The Satanic Temple’s Salem Art Gallery opens in time for Halloween and displays the 8½ tall bronze statue of Baphomet
SALEM, MA – The Satanic Temple will re-open the doors to its international headquarters in Salem, Massachusetts to the public on September 24. The Temple headquarters features the Salem Art Gallery, which currently house its 8½ foot tall bronze statue of Baphomet constructed by Mark Porter. The statue recently appeared in Little Rock, Arkansas where The Satanic Temple applied to have to have it stand alongside a Ten Commandments monument that sits on state capitol grounds.
The Salem Art Gallery, which previously hosted the provocative work of Chris Andres and blood paintings of Vincent Castiglia, will feature the artwork of Rebecca Petrie. Petrie’s exhibit, “Moon Magic,” runs from September 24 to December 21. Her art explores the sinister veneer of the illumination of the night and colors seen beyond black.
In addition to the new exhibition, guests will be able to visit The Satanic Temple’s Veteran’s memorial monument created by Adam Volpe of Pretty Hate Machining. This monument has the distinction of being the first satanic sculpture in American history ever to be approved for display on public property. The statue was to be installed in Belle Plaine, MN, but approval was rescinded and that is now the subject of a pending legal battle.
In addition to its standing exhibit on the history of Satanism and the Satanic Panic, this season brings a host of exciting events to the Gallery. The infamous Black Mass ritual will be returning to Salem at the end of October as well as an Unbaptism ritual, and The Devil’s Dinner Party, a ritual-based fine dining experience hosted by the Satanic Chef, Adam Dodge. Yoga, ritual candle making classes, lectures, and movie nights will be regular occurrences at the Gallery. A full list of events can be found on the Gallery’s website.
