Cathay Bank Foundation Awards Grant for Chinatown Youth Program

On December 3, 2012, Cathay Bank Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Inc. (BCNC) to promote the academic performance of immigrant youth. This grant will support the Chinese Immigrant Student Leadership Program, partnership with BCNC and Charlestown High School. BCNC’s youth program includes English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) classes, homework help, college access support, educational and vocational counseling, and preparation classes for the standardized tests for high school graduation. The program serves over 180 youth a year. The majority of the youth program participants are recent immigrants from China and Hong Kong.

Cathay Bank awards grant to support workforce development

On September 18, Cathay Bank awarded a $10,000 grant to the Asian American Civic Association’s Workforce Development Center to establish scholarship funds for the Careers in Banking and Finance Program students.
