On November 27, 2013, Cathay Bank Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Inc. (BCNC) to promote the academic performance of immigrant youth.
Giles Li is a homegrown Bostonian and proud of it. The son of immigrants, Li’s family frequented Chinatown and Li found his first job in the neighborhood. Today, he continues to work in the area by taking over for Elaine Ng as executive director of Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center this month.
The Chinatown Coalition met on Oct. 10 to discuss community updates. The city of Boston’s Public Works Department gave a presentation on Oct. 16 on drafting a new contract for trash collection.
Fitchburg Mayor Lisa Wong spoke at a “Community Conversations” forum hosted by Gov. Deval Patrick’s Asian American Commission on Sept. 19 at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center.
The Healthy Chinatown Coalition met August 21 to discuss childhood and community health at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center.
