Phone fraud workshop Feb. 3

Saturday, Feb. 3

2 p.m.

70 Beach Street, 5F

Boston, MA 02111

The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York will speak about phone fraud at the Wong Family Association. Scammers have called Chinese individuals in Mandarin. The calls spoof the embassy’s number and scammers ask for credit card information, along with personal information.

The Embassy advises that it never asks for personal information over the phone. Only when individuals are present at Embassy service counters are they asked to provide identifying details. Its release in Chinese is available here.
