BOSTON (December 7, 2017) Boston public media producer WGBH is pleased to announce that Liz Cheng, General Manager for Television, WGBH and WORLD Channel, has been named a Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce 2018 Pinnacle Awards honoree for outstanding achievement in the Health Care, Arts & Education category.
Cheng, who has been with WGBH since 2011, oversees local channels WGBH 2, WGBX 44, WGBH Kids, Create, and Boston Kids & Family TV, as well as the WORLD Channel – a 24/7 national multicast on 151 public media stations, offering the best in original news/documentary content. Cheng helped to launch WGBH’s choral series, Sing That Thing!, and Boston Holidays! Celebrating with Music. For WORLD, she co-created the news magazine, Local, USA; the award-winning documentary series featuring diverse filmmakers, America ReFramed; an international series, Doc WORLD; and WORLD’s newest effort,Stories from the Stage, featuring multicultural storytellers riffing about universal themes.
“From documentaries to music performances to storytelling, Liz has brought imaginative and engaging TV productions to WGBH audiences in Boston and to viewers across the country,” said WGBH COO Ben Godley. “She is a champion for presenting new and diverse voices on public media, and an active leader in our community, and we are thrilled that the Chamber is recognizing her with this award.”
Cheng will be recognized on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the annual Pinnacle Award luncheon held at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel.
