Event Co-Sponsors Educators for Excellence and Center for Social Innovation
BOSTON- At-Large Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley is partnering with Educators for Excellence and the Center for Social Innovation to convene a screening of Paper Tigers this Thursday evening at 5:30 pm at Regal Fenway Stadium Theatre. This is a film about one school’s mission to create a trauma-informed educational environment. Pressley worked with the Center for Social Innovation to bring this screening to Boston in 2015. Teachers from public and charter schools, BPS officials, and families are attending the screening.
At-Large Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley said, “This is an incredible film about one school’s efforts to see how trauma impacts learning and develop school-wide strategies to ensure students who have experienced trauma are supported and given every chance to succeed. It’s a remarkable story, with many lessons for our schools to consider.”
Since her first year in office, Councilor Pressley has been pushing for increased access to trauma response services and for trauma-informed schools. She has convened seven hearings in eight years related to trauma serves, each with a different focus.
