Monte Jade of New England seminar: Big Data-Big Future

Monte Jade Science and Technology Association of New England (MJNE) invites the public to join three distinguished experts from both public and private sectors to discuss how big data is changing our future. The seminar, entitled “Big Data—Big Future,” will be held in Cambridge on May 31, Saturday.

Big data is attracting attention for its tremendous potential in areas from information technology to finance and healthcare. Based on a successful event on big data and healthcare last year, MJNE determines to further broaden the discussion by inviting Dr. Michael Chang, Leland Cheung, and Dr. Yu-Feng Wei to share their unique perspectives.

Dr. Michael Chang is the Founder and CEO of Flyberry Capital, a Cambridge-based startup that utilizes big data techniques to generate innovative solutions in trading and finance. His talk will cover from related emerging companies in finance industry, innovative economic prediction/modeling based on big data approaches to a sneak peek of Flyberry Capital’s methodologies.

Leland Cheung has served as Cambridge City Councillor since 2009 and has been a leader in making Cambridge more progressive, using technology to modernize government, and driving the innovation economy. Now a candidate for Lt. Governor of Massachusetts, Leland will reflect on a national trend of Open Data Ordinances and provide his insight on how government is utilizing data to deliver better services and create opportunities for civic innovation.

Dr. Yu-Feng Wei is the founder and managing partner of a stealth-mode startup that turns big data into actionable business intelligence for healthcare organizations. For more than a decade, Dr. Wei has been applying advanced analytics to solve business problems in various industries including pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and government.

Monte Jade is a non-profit organization composed of professionals primarily from the science and technology fields who share a common vision — innovation and business opportunities can be fostered through active information sharing and collaboration amongst parties with diversified expertise, locally and internationally.
