ReelAbilities: Boston Disabilities Film Festival shows Chinese Film

ReelAbilities: Boston Disabilities Film Festival starts Thursday and continues through Feb. 6 with 17 films in the Boston area. The films include Son of the Stars (“Xing xing de hai zi”). ZhengZheng, a young mother of a child with autism, travels the great distance from northern China to Dongguan, the land of tens of thousands of factories, looking for her husband. With son XinXin in tow, she finds herself alone in the enormous city, with nothing but her wits and inner strength to guide her. The film is FREE and showing at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

A discussion will follow led by Dr. Helen McCabe, of Hobart and William Smith Colleges and The Five Point Project. McCabe is an expert on autism in China.
