Chinatown community alert: Helicopter in the area on Monday, Oct. 21
There will be a helicopter flying above the Tufts Health Sciences campus in Chinatown on the afternoon of Monday, October 21.
The helicopter will be overhead for approximately 10-15 minutes at some point between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tufts University booked the helicopter flight over the area, so no residents of Chinatown should be unduly alarmed. It is a planned flight to take aerial photographs and video of the campus.
The purpose is to capture video footage and still photographs of our campuses during peak foliage season for various uses.
The helicopter will spend approximately 15 to 20 minutes over each campus, circling multiple times and hovering over certain areas as needed. Please be assured that the pilot is an experienced professional and will be flying at a safe distance. We will start over the Grafton campus and fly west to east, ending in Boston. The helicopter will be flying about 500 feet above the ground (~ 50 stories), within FAA regulations at all times.
This will be the first time we’ve filmed aerial footage of our Boston and Grafton campuses and are looking forward to the opportunity to showcase our campuses during this beautiful time of year. We hope that this does not create any inconvenience for you and thank you for your patience.
