Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department kicks off mobile job fair program in Dorchester
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department recently kicked off its new Mobile Job Fair Program, which made its first stop at the Dorchester House Multiservice Center.
Over one-hundred Boston residents from a variety of backgrounds and age groups came out to meet with members of the Department and learn about the different employment opportunities from custody officers and members of the Human Resources and External Affairs Divisions. Department representatives passed out materials and spoke with interested applicants about some of the current job openings, including the position of correction officer and what it entails.
Custody staff members Sergeant Abiezer Ayuso, Sergeant Dennis Manning, Officer Lauren Welch, Officer Joshua Delarosa and Officer Matthew Dennehy dispersed throughout the room, offering knowledge and advice to the potential future employees of the Sheriff’s Department.
As the largest Sheriff’s Department in the Commonwealth and the 16th largest of the 3,085 Sheriffs’ Offices in the United States, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department serves as an innovative criminal justice system whose mandate is to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth and maintain the care, custody and control of inmates and detainees in Suffolk County. The Department also has an external mission to enhance and improve public safety within the community and to serve the citizens of Suffolk County.

The Department’s next Mobile Job Fair will be held in Chelsea City Hall Chambers, located at 500 Broadway in Chelsea, on Tuesday, September 17th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
