Born/Raised: Born June 19, 1956 (age 57) in Pawtucket, RI. Raised in Attleboro as the 3rd of 8 children born to Attleboro Police Officer Roland Cote, and my homemaker mother Mary Cote.


Military Service:

1975 – 1987: US Marine Corps Active Duty (Vietnam Era Veteran)

1987 – 1995: US Marine Corps Reserve


Attained rank of First Sergeant (E8)



Elementary/High School:

Attleboro Public Schools, Bishop Feehan High School


College (while on active duty):

Associates of Business Management, Fisher College, Boston, MA

Bachelors of Science, Business Management, Worcester State University

Masters of Business Administration, Mary Washington University


Work History (After Military Service):

1987 – 1998: MetLife, Hired into a Management Executive Training Program

1998 – 2010: Financial Services Executive Recruiter for a Number of Firms

2010 – 2012: Foundation for Financial Education, Developed Workplace

2012 – Present: MetLife, Returned to Expand Financial Literacy Programs



Wife: Alba Alvarez-Cote, Born in Argentina, Raised in West Newton, Newton North High School Graduate


Children: My wife and I are the parents of 10 children, and the grandparents of 1. Three of our children served in the Armed Forces over the past 10 years and we currently have a son-in-law in the Navy, and a son-in-law in the Marines.


Reason to Run: I was raised in public service and I believe that a person should give back to a country that has given so much. I believe that my background and knowledge will add great value to Newton government, given my ability to get to the root of an issue.
