Emerge Massachusetts Announces New Leadership
Taylor Woods-Gauthier Joins Training Program for Women as Executive Director
BOSTON — Emerge Massachusetts, the premier political training program for Democratic women, today announced its new leader. Taylor Woods-Gauthier joined Emerge Massachusetts as Executive Director earlier this month, taking the reins of the six-year-old organization that has trained nearly 100 women to run for public office; another 24 joined their ranks when the 2013 class began training last weekend.
Woods-Gauthier is a dedicated and effective advocate for women’s political representation. She has a proven track record of leadership and engagement in the political sphere, having most recently served as deputy director and founding staff member for Political Parity, a Hunt Alternatives Fund program with the goal of doubling the number of women in Congress.
“I am thrilled to play an integral role in training the next generation of women Democratic leaders,” Woods-Gauthier said. “Filling the political pipeline with women, equipped with the tools to win, is vital to our communities and to our country. I look forward to being part of the Emerge record of success.” In just six years, 30% of Emerge Massachusetts graduates have gone on to run for office and 60% have won.
In her role with Political Parity, Taylor guided the inception of the project, drove the program’s strategic planning process, built and managed Political Parity’s bipartisan Leadership Team of 50 women leaders, and oversaw the launch of two national projects. Prior to her work with Political Parity, Taylor served as a partisan political advisor to Ambassador Swanee Hunt.
A Connecticut native, Woods-Gauthier began her career managing the state senate office of now-U.S. Senator Chris Murphy and served on numerous Democratic campaigns. Woods-Gauthier earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Connecticut.
