OBITURARY

Reginald Wong, Jr. “Reggie,” 68, passed away on April 3, 2011.  A wake service was held on April 6 at Wing Fook Funeral Home in Boston; interment took place at Newton Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North American Chinese Basketball Tournament 2011,  In care of Boston Knights Chinese Athletic Club, 162 Lincoln St, Boston, MA 02111.

AACA 2011 Gala

Asian American Civic Association (AACA) invites you to the Annual Gala 2011 to celebrate forty-four years of service to the immigrant communities in Massachusetts on Thursday, June 9, from 6:00 pm-10:00 pm at The Boston Park Plaza Hotel.  Mayor Thomas M. Menino will serve as the Honorary Chair this year.  Madge Meyers, Executive Vice President of State Street Corporation and Cynthia J. Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz’s next office hours in Chinatown will be held on April 19, 2011 from 4:30 – 5:30 PM at the Chinatown YMCA, 8 Oak St. West, Boston, MA.
Senator Chang-Díaz encourages any resident or interested party to attend and discuss any community, regional, or statewide issue that may concern them. Neighborhood Days at the MOS

Free Admission to Museum of Science’s Race Exhibit on “Neighborhood Days” will be held fom now until May 12,.  Residents of many Massachusetts cities with heavy immigrant and minority populations may visit the Museum of Science’s much-discussed exhibit, “Race: Are We So Different?” free of charge after 2:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
The offer is open to all residents of Boston, Cambridge, Everett, Malden, Revere, Somerville, Chelsea and Quincy. Residents must show a valid picture I.D., (or a student I.D. plus a utility bill with name and address). Children 3 -17 accompanying adults are also free. Foreign Affairs essay contest

Essay Topic: “Is the decline of the West inevitable?”
Entries due: July 1, 2011
Foreign Affairs publishes articles by today’s leaders and thinkers that tackle the most pressing issues in international relations. Foreign Affairs wants to give tomorrow’s leaders the opportunity to demonstrate innovative thinking on the issues that shape their world. In the second annual Foreign Affairs Essay Contest, a panel from the Foreign Affairs editorial staff will select one undergraduate’s essay to be published on the Foreign Affairs Web site. The winner will also receive a prize of $1,000, and five honorable mentions will receive a free year-long subscription to Foreign Affairs.
Entries must be submitted by July 1, 2011.
